Course Overview

This course is an introduction to the university and its online learning platform, MyAberdeen. MyAberdeen is used across the University of Aberdeen for all course delivery and students should be aware of its functionality, as well as how to find relevant university policies and procedures. The course also introduces the academic skills required and the support available to them to improve these in order to successfully complete one of our online courses or programmes.

This is a zero credit but compulsory course for any student undertaking any online courses or programmes within the Institute of Applied Health Sciences (IAHS) at the University of Aberdeen.

PU5028 and PU5544 are identical courses operating in different semesters. Students should take the course appropriate to their start date.

Course Description

This course will introduce students to the University of Aberdeen’s virtual learning environment, known as MyAberdeen. It will take students through the key navigation and interactive functions within MyAberdeen and how to access support when studying online. It introduces important policies and procedures that all students should be aware of including the university’s code of conduct, reporting absence, extension requests, and the expectation of students and staff relating to academic integrity. The academic skills required for successfully completing any of our courses and programmes are highlighted along with signposting the support services available to students at the university, specifically the Library, Student Learning Service and Careers Service.


Details, including assessments, may be subject to change until 31 August 2023 for 1st half-session courses and 22 December 2023 for 2nd half-session courses.
