Course Description

To give the students direct experience of the different processes involved in scientific research, either in a laboratory, clinical or public health setting. With appropriate guidance from a supervisor, each student will:

  1. Develop an original hypothesis in a selected research area.
  2. Prepare a research proposal.
  3. Present the initial original research protocol
  4. Collect, analyze and interpret data.
  5. Present the final results.
  6. Write up an original journal article.

Summative Assessments

Research Proposal (15%), Results Presentation (15%), Original Journal Article (55%) and Supervisor's Report (15%)

Resit: 30 minute Oral Examination plus Resubmision of Research Paper
