This course builds on the International Arbitration Law course (completion of which is a prerequisite), but develops understanding of the key stages in any international arbitration process from its inception to its conclusion (and beyond). Instead of concentrating on the legal rules and principles which typify such a process (covered in the International Arbitration Law course), this course will take students through the full arbitral process, covering such important practicalities as:

Selecting Arbitrators
The Arbitrator Contract
Preliminary Issues
Preservatory and Injunctive Relief
Discovery, Preliminary Meeting
Directions (including drafting)
Preparing for the Arbitral Hearing
Conducting the Arbitral Hearing

Online interaction - 20% of the overall grade
Coursework - 40% of the overall grade
Exam- 40% of the overall grade
Students may resit the examination and/or coursework assessment, as directed by the course co-ordinator, where non-submission or failure is due to good cause. In such a case, the resit is treated as a first diet.
Where no good cause exists, students may resit the examination and/or coursework submission, as directed by the course co-ordinator, in respect of only one course per academic year of study. In such a case, the grade is capped at a D3.
