Course Overview

This course provides students with guidance and practical support for writing their dissertation. For the first four sessions we will meet as a group to take an overview of the process of finding a suitable dissertation topic and embarking on research in Islamic Studies. Then students will develop their own dissertation topics in consultation with their supervisors.

Course Description

This course provides students with guidance and practical support for writing their dissertation. For the first four sessions we will meet as a group to take an overview of the process of finding a suitable dissertation topic and embarking on research in Islamic Studies. From teaching week 5 of the half session, students will develop their own dissertation topics in consultation with their supervisors.

Summative Assessments

Annotated bibliography (1500–2000 words) (20%); A reflection paper (2,500 words) (40%); draft research proposal (2,500 words) (40%).
