This blended learning course allows students to put together a claim for prior experiential learning in addition to learning about experiential learning and reflective practice.

The Recognition of Experiential Learning through Professional Practice Course enables students to consider learning from all aspects of their life which relates to their professional development and to demonstrate their learning through academic writing and personal evidence. The course is assessed by a 2000 word written assignment and the production of a portfolio for credit.
Tutor support is provided.
It is a 15 credit SQCF level 9 course; the portfolio is assessed separate for credit on the BA in Professional Development.
To undertake this course participants ideally should be employed in a relevant professional context or be able to access one. Voluntary work is acceptable.

1st Attempt: The assignment is in two parts. 1) Presentation of a portfolio of evidence of own learning including commentary on how this relates to professional development at the appropriate SCQF level. 2) An informed report of 2000 words on the significance of prior learning for professional development.
Formative assessment forms a major part of this module and the tutor will work largely on an individual basis with students as they develop their portfolio and report.
Formative assessment will be given both verbally and in a written or printed format.
