Biography
I received my MA in Business Management and Psychology (1st Honours) from the University of Aberdeen in 2022. My honours project focused on pilot fatigue within helicopter emergency services, and was carried out in collaboration with an industrial partner. In 2022, I started my 1+3 SGSSS / ESRC funded studentship titled 'Staying safe in the forest: Evaluating forestry worker non-technical skills and associated influencing factors.' In 2023, I completed my Psychology MRes (Distinction) where my research focused on fatigue within the forestry industry.
Currently, I'm in the first year of my PhD where I'm examining Non-Technical Skills and performance influencing factors within forestry, collaborating with Forestry and Land Scotland. My supervisory team includes Dr Amy Irwin, Dr Oliver Hamlet, Prof Rhona Flin, Dr Jason Liggins (FLS) and Mr Andrew Sloss (FLS).

Research Overview
My research interests lie within the realm of human factors. More specifically, non-technical skills (the social, cognitive and personal resource skills necessary, in addition to technical knowledge, to work safely and efficiently), performance influencing factors (e.g., fatigue) and safety within high risk industries.
My PhD project uses a mixed-methods approach to explore non-technical skills within forestry - one of the world's most hazardous industries! It will also explore performance influencing factors, taking a systems approach. The aim of the project is the development of a taxonomy of these skills that is specific to forestry felling operations, and the development of a behavioural marker system toolkit for the training and assessment of these safety critical skills.
