Research Overview
I build numerical models of natural systems to: (1) help fill knowledge gaps regarding their functions; (2) optimise/improve how we currently apply various Nature Based Solutions (NBS); (3) provide cost-benefit estimation tools that help identify and promote those environmental solutions that make economic sense.

Our research specialisms are based on the Higher Education Classification of Subjects (HECoS) which is HESA open data, published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International licence.
Current Research
As part of the FARM TREE project, I am working on ways to quantify the impact of planting trees in farmlands in Scotland, both at small farm-scale and large regional-scale. The main focuses are on the tree's impacts on water availability/quality/storage, as well as above/below ground carbon sequestration potential.
Past Research
My past research has focused mainly on Natural Flood Management (NFM) and geological Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS).
