Biography

Sarah is a first year postgraduate law research candidate in the school of law at the University of Aberdeen. She holds a Bachelor of Laws degree (LLB) from Leeds Beckett University, UK and obtained her LLM in Intellectual Property Law with Professional Skills (with distinction) from the University of Aberdeen, UK. Sarah's research interests focuses on how patent laws regarding the patentability of human genetic subject matter can be more harmonised at a global level taking into account the current diversification in patent law regimes and the territorial nature of patent law. This will be achieved by exploring a comparative analysis of the current patent regimes across some key countries in the Global North and proposing a further clarification on 'novelty' and 'inventive step' at the Global level.
