Biography

Wei See Chan was a journalist in Malaysia for more than a decade before coming to Aberden in 2017 to pursue her PhD degree. Her long-term coverage of political and environmental issues in Malaysia has inspired her to study the effects of the lack of political modernization in Malaysia on its ecological modernization. In doing so, she is examining the extent to which the lack of rule of law, secularization, institutionalization of public interest and the suppression of political participation in Malaysia have affected its environmental decision-making.
