About

Biography

Millicent is an environmental law attorney/lecturer with strong interest in the sustainable use of natural resources, clean energy, and public health. She had an earlier degree in Zoology/Botany/Education from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria. She taught Biology and Human Physiology for many years before reading law at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN). Her LL.M was from Columbia University School of Law, New York where she was the Friedmann Fellow for the 1997/98 academic year. She has been admitted to practice law in Nigeria and the State of New York, USA.

Millicent has worked in many capacities as an attorney in Nigeria and the United States. She joined the Faculty of Law, UNN as a lecturer in 2013 and taught environmental/climate law till October 2017 when she left for University of Aberdeen for a PhD programme. She has completed the PhD programme on corporate environmental liability and pollution control with respect to oil spills. She joined the University of Aberdeen Law School in September 2021.

Her current research interest is at the intersection of environmental/climate law, natural resources law, and public health law.
