Dr Leeanne Bodkin

Biography

Leeanne graduated from Manchester Medical School with an MBChB with distinction.  This was during an innovative period in curriculum reform in late 1990s, which sparked her interest in medical education.  She has worked at Medical Education Units at the University of Edinburgh and the University of Birmingham, in a range of roles; coordinating curriculum and programme developments; leading on assessment and professionalism.  She completed her Post Graduate Certificate in Higher Education Teaching in 2002 and became a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.  

Leeanne joined the University of Aberdeen as part of the clinical skills team in 2014 and now she leads on clinical communication and professionalism in the medical programme.  She is committed to interdisciplinary working and fostering collaboration.  She is active in local, Scottish and UK networks for clinical communication, professionalism, medical humanities and Interprofessional learning.

Leeanne has a Masters in Medical humanities from University of  Wales (Swansea) 2007 and coordinates the Medical Humanities student selected component (SSC) which enables medical students to gain alternative perspectives and study in disciplines across the University and beyond. https://www.abdn.ac.uk/medical/humanities/  

Leeanne coordinates the Core Values of a Clinical Educator course which forms part of the Masters in Clinical Education at the University of Aberdeen.
