Biography

Kay joined the Institute of Applied Health Sciences in the School of Medicine, Medical Sciences and Nutrition as a Teaching Fellow in October 2021, having previously held posts at the University of Aberdeen, University of Edinburgh and Edinburgh Napier University. Kay studied at the University of Aberdeen and was awarded a BSc (Hons) Statistics in 1992 and her PhD which focused on statistical methods for the detection of multivariate outliers in clinical laboratory safety data was awarded in 1995.

Kay is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and has a wealth of teaching experience in statistics and research methods. Her research interests include applied statistics in the areas of health and nursing, educational research and pedagogy, statistical approaches for dealing with missing data and survey methods.

Research interests include applied statistics in healthcare research, educational research and pedagogy, statistical approaches for dealing with missing data and survey methods
