Senior Lecturer (Scholarship)
Jayne began teaching Business Education in Aberdeen. As a Principal teacher she became actively involved in curricular development at National and local level. Following a spell as a curriculum development officer she undertook a secondment at the University of Aberdeen and continued her involvement in SQA with particular development in Business Management.
Jayne has been a full time member of staff within the Higher education for 25 years. Her range of expertise has most recently included a 4 year period as Depute Head of School with responsibilities for quality enhancement of learning and teaching; school based quality assurance processes and developing partnerships and collaborative activities with local authorities to build Master's professional learning opportunities for teachers.
Current research interests relate to exploring different pedagogical approaches to build teacher confidence in undertaking and completing Master's level learning within the context of mentoring and coaching development.
Ongoing collaborations include a pilot study with Aberdeen City Council which includes 18 teachers undertaking Master's professional learning using focused pedagogical approaches. The context for these new developments in mentoring and coaching are in response to Donaldson (2010) to build better support for students during school based placements; to enhance and support NQTs during the probationery year and to build enable experienced teachers to aspire to gaining Master's level qualifications.

Invited by the General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS) to sit on their panel for the accreditation events for other Scottish Universities, most recently Strathclyde and Stirling Universities.
Invited by the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) to join the Quality Design Team (QDT) to design new Curriculum for Excellence based Business Education qualifications for Business Management at levels National 5 and Higher. (2010 – 13)
