Aberdeen student selected for prestigious programme supporting female engineers

A University of Aberdeen student is one of only 30 female engineering students from across the UK to be selected for the inaugural Santander STEMships programme.

Milena Zagulak, who studies Mechanical Engineering, will now receive £1,500 towards her studies, an opportunity to travel overseas to take part in an engineering leadership and development programme, and mentoring and employment support.

She will also receive support towards an internship through the Santander Universities SME Internship Scheme, and access to exclusive networking events with prominent female leaders in the engineering industry.

The Santander STEMships programme is dedicated to supporting female engineering students at universities across the country, in order to help more women embark on a career in the UK engineering industry and tackle the skills challenge facing the sector.

Commenting on her selection for the programme, Milena said: “Having been chosen as one of only 30 students is a great honour and shows that hard work and dedication do pay off. I am extremely grateful for the opportunities this will provide me, and I cannot wait to be a part of this amazing programme.”
