Shetland teachers achieve success

Seven teachers from across Shetland have completed postgraduate qualifications in leadership through Aberdeen University.

Six have completed the middle level leadership qualification, one has completed the Into Headship qualification and one has completed the In Headship qualification.

Six teachers were presented with their certificates by Maggie Sandison, Chief Executive of Shetland Islands Council and Neil McLennan from the University at an informal event at Anderson High School in Shetland.

Maggie Sandison, Chief Executive of Shetland Islands Council said: “I’m delighted to see some of our teachers achieving these awards, which will undoubtedly improve their confidence and their school leadership skills. Teachers are a vital asset in unlocking the potential of our young people and Shetland Islands Council is committed to helping our staff to develop and to be the best that they can be.

Neil McLennan, Director of Leadership Programmes at the University added: "It is great to be able to celebrate the success of Shetland's education leaders.

"The University of Aberdeen and Shetland Islands Council have a strong partnership in supporting our aspiring and current leaders to deliver the best possible outcomes for those on the Shetland Islands. All graduates deserves great credit for their work and success."
