IT Systems Maintenance: Monday December 20 to Thursday January 6

We are carrying out essential maintenance on a number of IT systems over the coming weeks.

What is happening?

Data Centre Electrical Testing

For compliance reasons, we will be testing electrical circuits in the Edward Wright data centre.

Monday 20 December, 9am

Tuesday 21 December, 5pm

We intend to keep all services online. However, as this is electrical testing, most services will be at risk during testing.

  • All University servers and storage

Network Updates

Upgrade of core network equipment across campus.

Monday 20 December, 9am

Services at risk:

  • Network connectivity on campus

Mailing List Upgrades

Upgrade to the server that supports University mailing lists.

Thursday 6 January, 9am

Thursday 6 January, 5pm

Service outage:

  • Mailing lists will be unavailable during this upgrade

 

 

What should you do?

Please save your files regularly on the dates listed above.

Why is this happening?

This maintenance is required for compliance as well as to replace or update essential IT network equipment and services.

While there is never a good time to carry out such work, we have chosen these dates/times to try and minimise the impact to the University community.  If we encounter problems during any of the upgrades that will affect you, we will issue further Service News.
