About

Biography

I worked in both the Departments of Physics and Chemistry, teaching a range of courses including fundamental physics, modern physics, Advanced Practical Physics, Solid State Physics and Chemistry and coordinating Honours Projects.

I also spent many years coordinating the Sixth Century Course "Mankind in the Universe", a multi-disciplinary look at how we make sense of the world around us using science,  philosophy, anthropology and religion, and addressing these ideas to topical subjects in science:  Climate Change, genetics, evolutions, medical sciences and so on.

I hold a Personal Chair in Physics. From 2006-2008 I was Head of Physics, and from 2012-2018 I was Head of the School of Natural and Computing Sciences.   I took early retirement in 2022.
