Nanoparticles
PhD-students currently working in this area:
We are interested in determining naturally occurring nano-particles (NNP).
One route of research is the detoxification of mercury by forming an agglomeration with selenium in pilot whale livers, kidneys and brain.
Here FFFF-ICP-MS and sp-ICP-MS as well as XANES/EXAFS were used to characterise these NNPs.
Ongoing projects involve the identification of elemental selenium by fungi as part of the TeaSe project and the determination of engineered nano-particles in biological tissues.
