MMus in Music

The MMus in Music is designed specifically to form a bridge between undergraduate study and research degrees in which the project is double weighted and complemented by a research skills course and seminar-based course designed to introduce some breadth to the studies. All PGT music students participate actively in the Postgraduate Reading Group as well as the Music Research Seminar Series.

MMus in Sonic Arts

An MMus in Sonic Arts, taught by Dr Suk-Jun Kim and Prof Pete Stollery, was offered for the first time in 2014-2015. This new, project-based, and hands-on taught masters programme targets students who have diverse backgrounds in music, film, new media, theatre, fine arts, computer science, or creative writing and help them build a strong skill set and rigorous and original aesthetic approaches to a wide range of sonic arts. All Sonic Arts students work as active members of SERG.

MMus in Vocal Music

The heart of the MMus in Vocal Music is a project that may involve one or more elements of composition, musicology and performance (including choral conducting). Many of our MMus students come to Aberdeen to work on choral composition with Prof Paul Mealor and Dr Phillip Cooke. Others take on musicological projects with Dr Edward Campbell and others. This work is complemented by courses in research skills, various options and a seminar-based course designed to introduce some breadth to the studies.
