The classical guitar ensemble gives guitarists experience of performing as part of a group. It is generally split into smaller groups according to ability and experience (although this is very flexible). We explore repertoire written or arranged for guitar trios, quartets etc, and members' arrangements and compositions are often performed by the group. We sometimes explore music for ensembles consisting of one or more guitars combined with other instrumental forces (bowed strings, wind, mandolin etc.)

There are no formal auditions, however members will be expected to:

a) own a classical guitar (i.e. nylon or gut stringed)
b) be able to sight-read at least single-line staff-notation guitar music to a reasonable level
c) have a basic grasp of classical guitar left- and right-hand technique
