Student volunteers

Volunteers are an important part of the museums’ team. Working closely with museum staff, they assist with a wide range of activities including documentation, conservation, exhibitions, invigilation and events.

University of Aberdeen students who are volunteering with the museums are eligible to enrol in the Students Taking Active Roles (STAR) award scheme. Established volunteers may be appointed as Honorary Curatorial Assistants, which brings with it university staff privileges.

Applications to become a volunteer are welcomed from people with a variety of backgrounds, but priority is given to students of the University.
