Interested in flash fiction but not sure how to start? Then join writer Alex McCall as he coaches you through picking a topic, working out how to structure the story and then writing it!
For last year's Book Week Scotland the writer Alex McCall worked with us to create an animated version of himself to give you some tips on how to write Flash Fiction.
This year we are delighted to have REAL LIFE Alex with us for this online workshop.
It's open to participants aged 16+
If you've never written anything before but would like to find out a bit more about micro-fiction and how to get started, come along!
If you've already written some short fiction and want to join us to share ideas or ask some questions, come along!
There’ll be an opportunity to work with others on the fiction if you want to and then everyone will get together at the end to discuss what they’ve learned.
Alex McCall is, and always has been, obsessed with stories. His first book, Attack of the Giant Robot Chickens, won the 2013 Kelpies Prize. It also won the Younger Readers category of the 2015 Scottish Children’s Book Award. It was followed by the sequel, Revenge of the Giant Robot Chickens. He has a degree in Filmmaking and Screen Writing from the University of the West of Scotland. Currently he splits his time between writing and staring out the window, longing for chocolate.
A list of reviews for Attack of the Giant Robot Chickens can be found on the publisher’s webpage here.
You'll find the Animated Alex on our Creative Power of Books Page along with a NEW piece of his Flash Fiction commissioned for this year's Book Week Scotland. You'll also find information about how you can enter our Flash Fiction Competition which we are launching as part of Book Week Scotland.
