Science, Engineering and Medicine Postgraduate Open Day

Students stand to improve their career prospects and future earning potential by attending a new Open Day at the University of Aberdeen.

The University has announced it will hold its first Science, Engineering and Medicine Postgraduate Open Day on Wednesday, March 14 at King's College Conference Centre from 2.30pm-7pm.

Research by the Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA) has indicated that graduates with a Masters qualification earn around 32% more as a starting salary than graduates with a first degree alone.

Prospective postgraduate students will be able to talk to academics and support staff about the extensive research and taught postgraduate opportunities at the University. The Open Day will also feature talks on topics such as postgraduate funding; a session with Keith Morgan, co-author of 'What do Phds do?' and an informal drop in session with University staff, students and alumni.

Representatives from the fields of Medical Sciences, Medicine, Biological Sciences, Life Sciences, Health Sciences, Psychology, Engineering, Geology and Petroleum Geology, Geography and Environment, Computing Science, Mathematical Science, Physics and Chemistry will be present at the event along with Student Support staff, the Careers Service and the Students Association.

Tours of the old Aberdeen campus will be available throughout the day and a minibus will be on hand to take interested students to the Foresterhill campus to see the University's world-class medical research facilities.
