Dr Maria Manoli
Dr. Maria Manoli is a lecturer in space law at the School of Law of the University of Aberdeen since September 2022. Prior to joining the University of Aberdeen, she was the Executive Director of the Institute of Air and Space Law at McGill University, Canada, where she also obtained her Ph.D. degree under the supervision of Prof. Ram Jakhu as an Erin J.C. Arsenault Doctoral Fellow.
Dr. Manoli’s fields of current research cover public international law, international space law, critical approaches to international law, artificial intelligence, and science and technology studies. She has a particular interest in the sociopolitical aspects of space as constituent elements of an emerging narrative of territoriality in outer space. She is also interested in understanding law as a space-making technology and researching the non-physical aspects of space and their translation into law, especially in the field of space activities. She is currently researching on law and power in space, with emphasis on NewSpace activities.
