Your Personal Tutor will provide details of the specific date, time, and venue of the meeting. It is important that you respond to that email. Most meetings will take place during Freshers’ Week 4-8th September.  Please ensure you respond to your Personal Tutor’s email as soon as you receive it to confirm your attendance or to arrange an alternative day and time to meet.

School of Medicine, Medical Sciences & Nutrition

If you are entering Year 1, or a new entrant to a higher year of study, in the School of Medicine, Medical Sciences and Nutrition you should already have received a letter in the post outlining induction arrangements during Welcome Week. With regard to Personal Tutor meetings, these will take place in the Zoology Building between 10.15-11.15am on Thursday 7th September. Please come along to the foyer of the Zoology building during this time and someone there will greet you and direct you to your personal tutor.

If you are a returning student studying any of the Medical Sciences subjects you should receive an email from your personal tutor within two weeks from the start of term. Your tutor will invite you to a meeting which may be in the tutor’s office on the Foresterhill campus where most medical sciences tutors are based. If this is the case the 9U bus will take you from Old Aberdeen to Foresterhill and can be caught from outside the Duncan Rice Library. If you cannot make the meeting suggested by your tutor then please let your tutor know so alternative arrangements can be made. Most University communication is via email so please check your email account at least daily to ensure you do not miss any important messages. If you have questions before your meeting you are welcome to email your tutor at any time. Most students will retain the same personal tutor over the course of their studies but if you have changed degree programme or if your tutor has left the University you may be allocated a new tutor.

School of Natural & Computing Sciences

Your tutor will contact you by email to arrange a meeting with you within the first two weeks of term.

School of Psychology

A warm welcome to the School of Psychology if you are new to the university and welcome back to all our returning students.

Your Personal Tutor will contact you directly by email over the next week. It is important that you respond to their email. You will be invited to meet with your Personal Tutor during Fresher’s Week or the following week. Your Personal Tutor will provide details of the specific date, time, and venue of the meeting. It is anticipated that most meetings will take place in the William Guild Building between September 6th – 8th. Please ensure you respond to your Personal Tutor’s email as soon as you receive it to confirm your attendance or to arrange an alternative day and time to meet.

School of Social Sciences

Personal Tutors will meet their Level 1 students on Thursday 7 September and/or Friday 8 September, and their Levels 2-4 students on Monday 18 September and/or Tuesday 19 September.

If your Tutor is not available on these dates they will offer the students an alternative date in the same weeks.

All personal tutors have sign-up sheets with plenty of timeslots on their office doors so that personal tutees can come along to the School in Edward Wright and sign up for a slot that suits them best. The colleagues in the School office in F50 are always happy to show new students to their tutor’s office if they feel lost.
