Ageing and Neurodegenerative Disease
Neurodegenerative diseases and psychiatric disorders are a leading cause of disability world-wide and a major health concern for our society. At present, key areas of interest in both experimental and clinical research are improved experimental models, technologies and biomarkers, urgently required for the ultimate development of new and effective therapies.
Translational Neuroscience at the University of Aberdeen offers wide ranging expertise in the translation 'from bench to beside' in nervous system disorders, and technology developments that enable early diagnosis and drug development.
Ultimately, our research aims to understand disease mechanisms, identify drug targets and develop better preventative and treatment strategies.
