Cardiovascular medicine
Cardiovascular patho-physiology with several areas of focused interest: cardiomyopathies (takotsubo, hypertrophic), exercise physiology and its consequences on health and type 2 diabetes, large clinical trial of repurposing beta-blocker therapy and novel identification of “masked” heart failure, clinical trial of optimal antiplatelet duration after myocardial infarction, cardio-oncology and novel imaging technologies for diagnosis of heart disease (magnetic resonance and spectroscopy, novel contrast agents, positron emission tomography and echocardiography).
Principal Investigators:
- Professor Dana Dawson - supported by a large clinical team.
- Dr Mary MacLeod (hypertension and stroke; imaging, medicinal chemistry and molecular imaging technologies, particularly Positron Emission Tomography (PET) for cardiovascular imaging)
