The MacGillivray Academic Centre, which was opened on Tuesday, November 16, 1999, provides future doctors and midwives, as well as current staff, with the best and most up-to-date support for their continuing education. It is named after Professor Emeritus Ian MacGillivray, former Professor and Head of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology.

Professor MacGillivray made major clinical and scientific contributions to our understanding of pregnancy hypertension and also twin pregnancy, as well as developing undergraduate and postgraduate education in Aberdeen.
