Aberdeen PhD Students at Farr Institute PhD Symposium

Aberdeen PhD Students at Farr Institute PhD Symposium

Representatives from Farr@Aberdeen took part in the inaugural Farr Institute PhD symposium in Manchester on 9th and 10th June 2015.

With more than 40 delegates, PhD students and supervisors had the opportunity to hear about Health Informatics research from across the UK, develop new collaborations and share ideas.

Farr@Aberdeen was represented by two of our PhD students. Shifa Sarica from the Epidemiology Group, IAHS, described her work on ANCA associated vasculitis (Supervisor Dr N Basu) and Anthony Chapman from the Respiratory Group, IAHS and Computing Science reported his PhD plans exploring foetal growth and health outcomes.

Dr Corri Black, Coordinator for Farr Institute@Aberdeen and a member of the judging panel for the Farr Institute PhD Symposium, said 'we were delighted to take part in such a multidisciplinary event covering a diverse range of projects. Being able to identify and discuss common themes and challenges will help the students produce really excellent research.  We look forward to getting together again at the Farr International Conference in St Andrews in August.'
