After graduating with a social work degree in 2002, Stefanie practiced as a social worker for twelve years. She spent over half of this time in the healthcare sector, working in an interdisciplinary primary health care practice and a community-based mental health team. She received her Master of Health Sciences (First Class Honours) in 2013. Her research project focused on the social work integration into primary health care practices in Aotearoa New Zealand. In 2016, she completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Health Economics from the University of Aberdeen.
Stefanie commenced her IAHS/Elphinstone PhD scholarships with the Epidemiology Group in October 2017. She is supervised by Prof Gary Macfarlane, Dr Rosemary Hollick (both University of Aberdeen) and Prof Ernest Choy (Cardiff University).
Stefanie's PhD project focuses on ways of improving healthcare provision for patients with fibromyalgia.

Stefanie has taken part in a range of public engagement activities in Aberdeen such as Pint of Science and Soapbox Science. Further, she won the inaugural Images of Research competition hosted by the Postgraduate Research School (University of Aberdeen).
