About

Biography

I started working as a Research Assistant at the Epidemiology Group, Institute for Applied Health Sciences, University of Aberdeen, in March 2022. I am currently working on the CRIISP project which aims to understand how psychosocial factors may influence chronic pain, and the Making it Work project which aims to support people with musculoskeletal disorders in Scotland to remain in work.

Prior to this, I graduated with a First-Class BSc Honours degree in Human Biology at Loughborough University in 2018. My undergraduate dissertation focused on measuring sedentary behaviour within the ambulance service. I then began my PhD at Loughborough University in 2019, which was part of a larger Structured Health Intervention For Truckers (the SHIFT study). This was a randomised controlled trial (RCT) designed to improve the health of truck drivers in the UK. My mixed-methods PhD focused on the process evaluation of the RCT, a systematic literature review on the cardiometabolic and mental health status of truck drivers, and quantitative research to explore the prospective relationships between cardiovascular reactivity to stress and future fatigue, anxiety, and depressive symptoms. Throughout my PhD, I have also taught on several modules including Anatomy and Physiology, Physical Activity and Health, Sports Biomechanics and Kinesiology, Structural Kinesiology, and Quantitative Research Methods.
