Our annual Intensive Course in Applied Epidemiology returns in 2022, with booking now available.
The course, now in its 29th iteration, will run from Monday 7th – Friday 11th March 2022 inclusive, and will cover a number of key epidemiological topics, including:
- disease measurement
- principles of epidemiological study design and analysis
- collection of data in epidemiological studies
- methodological considerations including bias, confounding, validity, and reliability
The content assumes no prior epidemiological training and will cover basic topics in each of the above areas, as well as some more advanced topics.
Due to COVID restrictions, the 2021 course had a different flavour than usual, being held as a five-week course delivered online, and saw 21 delegates from 11 countries taking part including from Europe, the USA and as far afield as the United Arab Emirates and Singapore.
For 2022, while we anticipate a similarly international delegation, but intend to revert to our usual intensive, one-week, face-to-face programme here in Aberdeen.
Course convenor, Professor Gareth Jones, said:
“We sincerely hope, after a move online in 2021, that we are able to run the course face-to-face in 2022, and we look forward to welcoming delegates to Aberdeen.”
