Investigators
Munro, A. (HERU)
Summary
The project reviewed the different technical methods that have been used to measure productivity in healthcare in the UK and in other countries. The review covered the problems of measuring and valuing the outputs from healthcare, the treatment of quality in measures of productivity, and the problems of measuring and valuing the inputs in healthcare (e.g. the effects of changes in skill mix). The review looked at the experience of using productivity measures in health in the UK (e.g. the Cost Weighted Activity Index).
