Class of 2017: Life After Graduation

Congratulations! Now that you have graduated you join an alumni community of over 86,000 graduates living in 170 countries. By staying in touch with the University you can network with thousands of fellow alumni around the world, take inspiration from their career choices, exchange ideas in your chosen field, catch up with old friends and receive updates and invitations to exclusive events. You’ll find that the benefits of studying at Aberdeen extend well beyond your graduation. Wherever your life takes you, you will always be a part of the Aberdeen family.

As an alumnus/alumna you are entitled to several benefits including the alumni discount, postgraduate study opportunities, discount on bookings for campus facilities, special events and much more.

Postgraduate funding

New funding is available for eligible Scottish-domiciled students to undertake postgraduate study from 2017-18. A universal student loan entitlement of £10,000 has been introduced, comprising of a tuition fee loan of up to £5,500 and a non-income assessed living cost loan of £4,500.

The University has a range of taught postgraduate programmes which can help you explore your interests further and advance your knowledge and techniques in specialised or cross-disciplinary areas of study. SAAS Funding is only available to those undertaking taught programmes at publically funded universities. Applications can be submitted to SAAS from April 2017. Further information on funding can be found on the SAAS website. 

In addition to the student loan, the University has a number of funding opportunities including the Alumni Discount Scheme of a 20% discount on one year of postgraduate study for eligible Aberdeen Alumni candidates. Further information can be found in the funding database.

University Careers Service

The Careers Service would like to congratulate you on the successful completion of your studies and wish you well with your future career or programme of further study. If you have not had time this year to do much planning or need help with the practicalities of finding and applying for jobs or courses, the Careers Service is still open to you after graduation. General Council

Upon graduation you have automatically become a member of the General Council of the University of Aberdeen.

The General Council is empowered "to take into consideration all questions affecting the well-being and prosperity of the University, and to make representations from time to time on such questions to the University Court", which will consider and respond to such matters raised by the General Council.
