Art History at 50

Art History at 50

This academic year, the Art History Department is celebrating 50 years since it was established at the University.

To commemorate this special anniversary year, we have launched the Art History at 50 Fund, offering you the chance to help support the Art Historians of the future. Your generosity could help purchase library resources, cover field trip costs for students in financial need and help create internships, studentships and opportunities.

Your gift will help the ambitions of the Art History department for the next 50 years, and beyond.

Art History at 50 Celebrations

The department began celebrations in November with a roundtable discussion which brought former staff and alumni together to share memories and to reflect on the discipline of Art History.

Following this, a webpage telling the story of the department was launched and if you haven’t yet taken a look at this yet it can be viewed by clicking here 50 Years of Art History at Aberdeen.

The third and final event took place on campus in May. Guests listened to a special presentation from Professor Martin Postle, Senior Researcher Fellow at the Paul Mellon Centre for British Art in London, followed by a drinks reception in the sunshine. It was great to meet alumni who had travelled from Poland and London as well those local to Aberdeen! Photos of the event can be seen on the Alumni Facebook page.
