Anne Minto was Group Human Resources Director for Centrica plc and sat on the Centrica Executive Committee from 2002 for 9 years until her retirement in 2011. She graduated from the University of Aberdeen with a law degree in 1974 and also completed a post graduate diploma at Robert Gordon University in Personnel Management. After qualifying as a lawyer she worked in a number of senior commercial roles in Shell UK.
Anne was appointed in 1993 as Deputy Director General of the Engineering Employers’ Federation and thereafter she was appointed Group Human Resources Director at Smiths Group plc in 1998. During her career she has campaigned for flexible working, equal pay and female board representation. She is currently a non-executive director on the boards of Shire plc, Tate and Lyle plc and EXL Services Holdings Inc. She is Chairman of the Remuneration Committees at all three companies. Anne is Chair of the University of Aberdeen Development Trust. She is a former chairman of the Institute of Employment Studies, the Engineering Development Trust and served for 10 years on the Employers’ Reserve Forces Board. Anne was awarded an OBE in 2000 for services to the engineering industry.
