Biography

Loic studied Chemistry (BA) and Environmental Geosciences (MA) in Paris. After graduating the Water Sciences speciality, he started a Ph.D. at the University of Pierre et Marie Currie (Paris, France) dealing with interactions between food web ecology and organic geochemistry in freshwater ecosystems. This was during its Ph.D. that he started to apply the tools of organic geochemistry to environmental issues.

Since completing his Ph.D. in September 2012, Loic has undertaken a postdoctoral research fellow position in Rennes (France) working on the Interreg-funded Riskmanche project with Dr. Emilie Jardé and Dr. Laurent Jeanneau to track fecal contamination sources in shellfish harvesting areas through lipid biomarkers.

Then he joined the University of Aberdeen as a postdoctoral research fellow in May 2015 to work on the JPI Climate- and ESRC-funded HUMANOR project with Dr. Karen Milek, Pr. Lorna Dawson (James Hutton Institute) and Pr. David Anderson (Anthropology). As a geoarcheologist, he is using lipid biomarkers to identify the presence of reindeers and other animals in archeological sites from Siberia and Sweden.
