Scientific Programme
The basic theme of Seismix 2016 is “seismology at the cross-roads”, which focuses on one of the unique attributes of the Seismix symposium series: the ability to bring together those from the active and passive source imaging communities, and those who study the Earth from the exploration scale through to the continental scale. This combination often yields previously unrealised synergies and new ideas which have contributed to the longevity of Seismix as a biennial gathering. In 2016, the subject areas that will be focused on include:
- Innovative seismic acquisition and processing techniques
- Joint inversion of multiple datasets
- Advanced seismic imaging and inversion methods
- Novel seismic imaging using interferometry
- Pushing the resolution limits of passive seismology
- Shallow subsurface imaging
- Real time monitoring and time-lapse imaging
- Sedimentary basins
- Rifted continental margins
- Continent-ocean boundary
- Active continental margins and subduction zones
- Intra-continental tectonics
- Mid-ocean ridges and oceanic lithosphere
- The continental lithosphere
