Roy is a geologist and an environmental scientist with special interests in seismic interpretation and reservoir characterization, implemented in CO2 sequestration. He graduated from the University of Jos, Nigeria with a second class honours degree in Geology and Mining. His undergraduate project was titled "Geology, resource potential and hydrogeology of Rimi Zayem and its environs and the application of remote sensing and GIS", his project was classed as a top project in his class. He then went to study for an MSc in Environmental Management, graduating as one of the top in his class in Coventry University UK and is also a member of the Institute of Environmental Auditors - IEMA. His MSc project was lab based, titled "Enhanced bioremediation of PAH (polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon) contaminated soil using a white rot fungus; pleurotus ostreatus". He has a NEBOSH International Health and Safety general certificate and was one of the shortlisted candidates who attended the 2014 IEAGHG summer school in Texas, Austin. He has attended a few short courses with the British Geological Survey, funded by NERC, Schlumberger and Haliburton. He is currently studying for his Phd and focused on interpreting 4D seismic data from the Sleipner field (Norwegian North Sea Offshore Data), characterising the internal geometries and architecture of the reservoir as it affects the distribution and storage pattern of injected CO2.
Throughout his cause of study, he has worked in various capacities in different companies and organisations which include; Nigerian Sao Tome e Principe -JDA, UN-Millennium Development Goals, Nigeria, Adot solutions UK, RS Occupational Health and the University of Aberdeen.
He has served as the President and vice president of the AAPG (American Association of Petroleum Geologist) student chapter, Pioneer President of the Nigerian Students Society, UoA and member of the GPG committee.
Current research interests are broad covering seismic interpretation and environmental monitoring.
- 4D seismic monitoring of injected CO2
- Reservoir characterisation and modelling
- Seismic attribute analysis and AVO analysis
- Bioremediation of contaminated land
- Reservoir Architecture Control on the Geometry of a CO2 Plume Using 4D Seismic
