Resources

The Department of Geography and Environment has expertise in the applications of the geospatial technologies - remote sensing, GIS, Cartography, and GPS - to a wide range of environmental monitoring and management tasks. The Centre for Marine and Coastal Zone Management (CMCZM) and the Aberdeen Institute for Coastal Sciences and Management are also closely related.

The Idrisi Resource Centre is also able to draw upon a wide range of expertise including: digital mapping, visualisation, online Internet mapping and image servers, hydrological modelling, geology, coastal zone management, rural studies, transport geography, urban geography, plant science, landscape ecology, and forestry amongst many others.

Besides a complete suite of the current version of the Idrisi software, Cartalinx, and Land Change Modeler for ArcGIS, the Centre also has access to many other geospatial software packages. We also maintain a range of hardware peripherals including desktop scanners, colour printers, digital cameras, and video cameras.
