Position in project: Project researcher
Dr Hughes will co-lead the geospatial coverage component of the project along with Dr Ribolini. Dr Hughes has extensive experience investigating the glacial history of Mediterranean mountains including the mountains of Greece, Albania, Macedonia, Montenegro, Croatia, Italy, Spain and Morocco. He has also worked on Younger Dryas glaciation in the British Isles. He worked across the largest geographical range of the study area relevant to this project.
Research interests related to the project’s scope:
- Glacial history of the Atlas Mountains, North Africa
- Pleistocene glacial history of Montenegro, Croatia and Greece
- Modern glaciers and climate change in the Balkans
- Glacial and periglacial landforms in Wales and neighbouring areas
