International Organisation for the Study of the Old Testament (23rd Congress of IOSOT) - 4-9 August 2019
Professor Joachim Schaper (Established Chair of Hebrew and Semitic Languages) has been elected to serve as President of the International Organization for the Study of the Old Testament (IOSOT) from 2016 to 2019. The election took place during the business meeting of the 22nd congress (held in Stellenbosch, South Africa, from 4 to 9 September 2016) of the IOSOT, which is the central and most important organisation of Old Testament scholars in the world. Professor Grant Macaskill (Kirby Laing Chair of New Testament Exegesis) has kindly agreed to serve as Congress Secretary for the 23rd congress of the IOSOT, which will run from 4th to 9th of August 2019 at Aberdeen University, as always in conjunction with sister organisations in related areas.
This is only the second time that an IOSOT congress takes place in Scotland; Edinburgh hosted it in 1974. We look forward to welcoming colleagues from Old Testament/Hebrew Bible Studies and related areas from all over the world to the University of Aberdeen and to our beautiful city and shire. Details concerning the main papers and signing up for short papers will be released in due course.
