International Association of Sedimentologists Conference 2024

The organising committee are looking forward to welcoming you to the International Association of Sedimentologists conference to be held in Aberdeen, Scotland, 24th – 28th of June 2024. 

The Scotsman (one of Scotland’s national newspapers) calls the city of Aberdeen – where ships dock right up against the city-centre streets and dolphins leap in the busy North Sea harbour – “one of the most architecturally distinctive in Europe”.The wider Aberdeenshire stretches from “one of the last great places on earth” (the Cairngorms) to “one of the world’s top-rated coastlines”. So says National Geographic. 

The city's position gives people access to an exciting geological region. Aberdeenshire lies at a transition of three distinct geological and topographic regions – Strathmore, the Grampians and the north-eastern Coastlands, while Scotland more widely is known for its varied geology. We hope you can explore some of these sites in our programme of field trips which will run during the conference.
