Biography

Pascal Meissner (MIEEE’15) holds a Masters degree (’10) and a PhD (’18) in computer science from Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), Germany. He was a scholarship recipient of the FZI Research Center for Computer Science, Germany ('10-'13) and a research assistant with KIT ('13-'17). Then, after having headed a research group at KIT as a postdoc (’18-'20), he joined the academic staff of the University of Aberdeen, United Kingdom as a lecturer (’20). His areas of interest lie in 'computer vision' and 'machine learning' for autonomous robots. His research work includes the development of 'object localization' and 'scene understanding' capabilities for service robots as well as the investigation of 'machine learning' techniques for industrial manipulators. Dr. Meissner is an associate editor of multiple IEEE conference proceedings and an active member of the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society.
