A period spent abroad during a degree programme, either through study or industrial experience, is a fantastic way of developing and broadening your awareness of Engineering in an international context. The School participates in the Socrates exchange programme. Each year it welcomes students from outside the UK come to experience the challenge of studying in the UK as a part of their degree programme. These students will develop English language skills, participate in undergraduate taught courses, and develop fresh skills in a new context.
Project work is a key component of the final stages of the Undergraduate Honours programme. The School has opportunities for students to work in Industry or a remote research centre: many students travel to Europe and Singapore, and a range of locations in between. Most students return with a tremendous feeling of satisfaction and achievement from working outside their normal environment, especially in terms of confidence and maturity.
