Social media has changed the way in which individuals interact both personally and professionally. This workshop explores how social media can be utilised effectively by researchers. It examines a number of different social media tools and how they can be used effectively to support academic practice and the development of research networks. Key content includes:-
- The dos and don'ts around the use of social media including the important issue around separation of personal and professional use.
- How to build networks quickly and effectively, and what social media and web sites to use for specific channels of engagement, e.g. facebook, linkedin, flicker, youtube.
- The use of microblogging (twitter), blogging and social citation sharing (CiteULike).
