Interested in helping to shape research?

The University of Aberdeen's College of Life Sciences and Medicine is looking for members of the public who are interested in working with researchers as part of a new Research Interest Group.  The Group members would be asked for their opinions about research that is being planned and/or conducted, as well as for suggestions about how we can better communicate the results of research to the public.

Members of the Research Interest Group would not need to have any specialist knowledge of research: we just want your own personal opinions and suggestions.  As a member of this group, we would contact you several times a year to seek your opinion about different research projects.  Ideally, we would contact you by email or by phone.  We would also arrange some group meetings throughout the year – probably 3 or 4 maximum.  Participation in these meetings would be optional: travel expenses would be reimbursed.

What’s in it for me?

Alongside the opportunity to learn more about how the research process works and a chance to help shape it, in return for being a member of this group, you will also be entitled to:

  • Full reimbursement for travel and subsistence when attending meetings
  • Complimentary ticket selection to the University’s May Festival and other University of Aberdeen organised events
  • Free beverages at the University’s cafe science and related events
  • Certificate of contribution

If you would like to find out further information about this group, please email Mags Watson. If you are interested in becoming a member of this group, please fill in the following information and send completed forms to Mags Watson.
