The University is bringing a unique range of historical, academic and personal dimensions to the commemorations of the First World War. Programmes of events to which all are welcome to attend will take place over the coming months and years in tandem and sympathy with the progression of the War itself.
We have events with leading academics researching the War and its impact, exhibitions and commemorative services organised by our Chaplaincy and of course, visitors are always welcome to come to the University's historic campus in Old Aberdeen to view the many lasting memorials to those who served.
In addition, we have a online resources including the Roll of Honour which includes stories and records from University students, staff and alumni who served in the War and the Nutrition and War online learning resourse which outlines just how important food provision was in determining the outcomes of war. This resource describes how diet was also used as a weapon in war, when attempts were made to deprive not just soldiers, but whole countries, of essential foodstuffs and uses videos, lectures, imagery, poems and music.
