Public Engagement policy in the UK and further afield is a rapidly evolving area particularly in the higher education sector. Aberdeen is contributing to national discussions through the Catalyst network and also to public engagement policies and frameworks in Europe and beyond. Some recent examples include:-

  • Engaged Futures consultation on how an effectively engaged University should look in the 21st century - involves the major funders and research councils
  • RCUK Anniversary Publication - marking the 3rd anniversary of the UK Manifesto and Concordat for Engaging the Public with Research
  • BIS Draft Manifesto on Science and Society 2013 - following from the previous consultation
  • RCUK Non-financial Assurances consultation - setting criteria and metrics for reporting of co-research activities including public engagement
  • Vitae public engagement lens - tool for exploring public engagement as a pervasive route to professional skills development
  • EU Places declaration examining a set of recommendations reflecting good science and society practice that in turn create cities of scientific culture
