We are living in the age of the anthropocene, a proposed new geological epoch generated by the human impact on the planet. My research, informed by complexity and enactivist theories, focuses on understanding the human interaction and relationship with our environment, particularly with respect to socio-scientific issues and sustainability.
I am exploring the integration of three distinct areas:
- body mind and environmentthrough embodied cognition;
- arts and creativity in science education with funding from the British Academy; and
- science and the society.
I have links with colleagues in the Interdisciplinary Research Institute on Sustainability and I am on the editorial board of the journal "Visions for Sustainability" .
